Something you don’t need a big idea for a music video to make it fun to watch. This is a simple video with a trio of musicians, (DJ Gollum, Basslovers United) and two pairs of dancers in a white studio. The dance, perform, laugh, and sing. The video’s editing and changes in the song’s pace and composition make the three minutes and twenty seven seconds fly by. Fun video to watch.
Cute video from Dutch techno artist Sidney Sheldon. Two video game playing boys are runners for the local mob boss. They get called on an assignment to deliver a bag of loot. Little does the boss know the boys have a pair of accomplices who love lollipops.
Jes built her musical reputation as a vocalist for Tiesto’s trance tracks. For the past few years, she’s stepped out on her own as a solo performer. “Lovesong” is about her memories of the best love of her life when she was younger. The video takes a more of dance rock/crossover slant.
Whatever Inna is doing is working. Deja Vu sounds almost the same as “Hot” and “Love.” It’s got the same simple synth line, vocal chorus and its a winner in dance clubs all around the world. The video has three visually catching activities going on. Inna is aboard a yacht doing a swimsuit photo shoot. A trio of young and slender girls are the club’s featured dancers, and Bob Taylor is the DJ while Capoeira dancers battle.
Basshunter is one lucky guy. He gets to vacation in Mallorca with his beautiful girlfriend. It’s sunshine during the day and beach party in the nights. Could this be living the life?
The young Belgian beauty, Katerine, is on a film set. She’s doing a retro futuristic theme. There’s only one other guy on the set who tries to get her attention, but she completely ignores him. No problem, he just keeps dancing.
This big hit from Axwell brought the Swedish House Mafia to my attention. It’s an older video, but I still love watching it. A pair of street dancers are practicing their moves on the sidewalks. They take notice of each other and the chemistry starts unfolding. The dancing is amazing and as uplifting as the track moves along.
I’m loving this song these days. In the video, a valiant young man is patiently dedicated to bring a beautiful young lady back to life. There’s a secret he knows about her and it involves water. A glass may help, but he need to find a drowning pool.
Woo Hoo, another top 10 list. Here’s my picks for the top 10 dance music videos for 2009. Dance music is such a niche genre that many of the videos do not have much budget for something different. My main criteria is for these picks is videos which show creativity and break out of the norm. Here it is.
- Tiesto & Sneaky Sound System – I Will Be Here [Love the light effects and the mime/dancer]
- Infernal – Electric Light [Visuals match the song's theme about individuality]
- MSTRKRFT – Heartbreaker [Cute and sweet, love how the couple only communicates with body language]
- Erika Jayne – Give You Everything [Big concept, showgirl rehearsals, handsome lead actor]
- Mondotek – Alive [Youthful energy, enjoying the music and the culture around it]
- Elin Lanto – Discotheque [Cabaret dance scenes]
- Make The Girl Dance – Baby Baby Baby [Terrific concept for low budget, watch the behavior of the passersby folks]
- OceanLab – Lonely Girl [Adult relationship, pretty lead actress who captures the emotion of the song]
- David Tavare feat 2 Eivissa – Hot Summer Night [Bi-lingual song, Balearic scenes, sensual excitement]
- Inna – Hot [Slow motion dancers with ripped bodies]
It’s a beautiful day to visit New York City. Fragma singer/model, Damae Klein, steps out on the city streets for a day visiting her transatlantic friends.
